Xmas Tree Hunt '10

Gertie obliged to take us to the woods to saw down a tree so we could put it in our house and hang a bunch of stuff on it for some reason.
I was just guessing that this location would have decent trees.

It wasn't snowing when we left home but it sure was by the time I was dragging the tree back to Gertrude.

I absentmindedly tied the tree to the car in such a way that it rendered the driver's side door useless.

Heading back over Flint Creek Pass and on home.

  3. Did you have to get permission to cut down the tree? I would probably get arrested here in socal if we just went to the forest and chopped down a tree.

  4. @The Volkster-For all I know you would get arrested in the People's Republic of California for chopping down a tree, but then again maybe some of the National Forests there have this same deal:

  6. Thanks for the pics and the Google map.

How does Gertrude handle in the snow?

  7. @CB: The map! Always have to have a map, right?
Gertrude, like every air-cooled (i.e., rear-engined) VW I've ever driven, handles the snow like a champ. I mean, really: for snow, they're the best 2WD vehicles in the world. I'm being totally serious.
Come out here and try it sometime.

    Alright,
